FAQs

How much does it cost?

Shiprack is a free product meant to be used on iPhone and Android smartphones.  It is ad-supported which helps pay for the engineering costs involved in support and development.

Which phones are supported?

Shiprack is supported on smartphones with Android 2.1 or higher, and iPhones with iOS 5.1 and higher. If you don't know what version of Android or iOS your smartphone has, please feel free to contact support with the specific manufacturer and model of your phone.  Or, better yet - try it out - its free.

Which shipping carriers are recognized by Shiprack?

Please note that when adding a new tracking number, you don't specify any shipping carriers.  Our servers can detect the associated shipping carrier from the tracking number, as long it is supported by us.  Among the majors in United States, UPS, FedEx and US Postal Service are supported.  Also supported are some smaller carriers used by Amazon.com and other online retailers - Ensenda, Lasership, A-1 International, OnTrac, Prestige and Streamlite.  Among other global carriers, we also support DHL Express and DHL Global Mail.  FedEx uses USPS for final deliveries sometimes, under the brand FedEx Smartpost.  We support that as well.  Similarly, UPS Mail Innovations is supported too.  Among the UK carriers, we support UK Home Delivery Network, ParcelForce and Royal Mail.  Australian carriers supported are Australia Post and Toll Couriers.  Canadian carriers supported are Purolator, and Canda Post.  Additionally, we offer limited support for Hong Kong Post, China Post Express Mail.

What is Shiprack's privacy policy?

Any information that you make available to us through normal usage of the app, including, but not limited to shipment tracking numbers, tracking data, your email addresses, and emails you forward to initiate tracking (either automatically, or manually), is considered private and is covered by our privacy policy.  We do not share this information with any third parties.  It is used by our engineering teams for the purpose of testing our products and analyzing customer usage patterns.  In addition to this, we also collect non-personally-identifying information, such as phone make and model, browser type, and software version numbers.  This information is also only used for the purpose of creating a better user experience for our products. Our use of 3rd-party authentication services provided by Google and Facebook is meant to make it easier for you to use the app and receive push notifications. We do not and cannot access your Facebook and Google+ data, including but not limited to, social posts, private messages, and likes.

Why does the app ask for "Google Accounts" permission when installed?

We use the name of your google account (your gmail address) to maintain the list of shipments you wish to track.  When these shipments' status changes, the app notifies you through Android Push Notifications.  In order to enable this feature, we need to be able to securely identify who is accessing our servers.  We wouldn't want some other user to be able to access the list of your shipments.  This "Google Accounts" permission enables us to keep your data secure.  It becomes available to our servers in the form of a "cookie", and does not give us any access to any information you own through Google's services such as Gmail, Google Maps, etc.

How do I report problems?

We welcome all your comments, concerns, bug-reports, etc.  We will do our best to solve any problems you encounter while using Shiprack.  Please send us an email at support@ship-rack.com.  Sometimes it might be necessary to provide logs to help us identify the problem.  You can send us logs from within the app itself by clicking on the "Send Logs" button in the main menu.  These logs are also protected by our privacy policy mentioned above.
